Global Sisters provides an entrepreneurial alternative for women who are unable to participate in mainstream employment by making self-employment a viable option through access to knowledge, technology and micro-finance.

Working directly with the Founder of Global Sisters, the project came to life initially as a simple way to connect sisters with supporters. We designed an identity centred deliberately around a unique female icon to demonstrate confidence and universal appeal, but more importantly, providing immediate brand connection with an audience coming from many different languages and life experiences.

A clear brand strategy provided the foundation for Global Sisters to iteratively clarify and prioritise key features of the service, leading to the pilot launch of the website. Gaining momentum through community support and success stories, the project organically evolved from a focus on a digital platform to creating a holistic online and offline experience to empower a living and growing community of women and their strongest advocates.

Invest, don't donate – Within the first year, Global Sisters directly supported 14 women in their small business ventures, indirectly supported 778 women through social enterprises, engaged 34 mentors and business facilitators, launched its MVP, established an advisory board and scholarship program and received funding and developed partnerships with major corporates including Westpac bank, City Foundation and Australian retailer, Myer.

Real life business school – Since the pilot launch in 2015, Global Sisters has matured from start-up to expanding nationally, with established communities and operations in Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra and Hume. The initiative now currently supports 124 sister businesses (and counting) and the Global Sisters online platform has relaunched as The Market.
